Square Feet are designed to aid in achieving straight seams while piecing on your quilting frame. These feet can be used as a guide for consistent seam
allowances of 1/4″ and 1/2″. The 1/4-inch Square Foot is great for cotton fabrics, the 1/2-inch Square Foot is best for cuddle type fabric and high loft batting.
D Jeanne Clark –
First time using my square feet. Picked the 1/4” one. I put a small size backing and batting on my HQ Simply Sixteen with Little Buddy accessory. Marked the horizontal and vertical centers of the batting/backing and rolled them to put the center in my quilting area. I then used the quilt-as-you-go method to piece the quilt. I used simple strips to add to the sides, top and bottom of a center piece. Worked very well. It was quickly made. I’ll have to practice on using other shape pieces like squares. All of the QAYG methods are similarly limited. Fun for small projects.
