Class Information

Pro-Stitcher Retreats and Basic Retreats

  • All kits, fabric, thread and supplies will be provided for the retreat.
  • Classes begin at 8:45 am and go until 5:00 pm. on Days 1 & 2.
  • On Day 3 of the retreat, we finish at 1:00 pm after lunch, so an outgoing flight after 3:00 pm gives you plenty of time to make your flight.
  • The Pro-Stitcher classes are taught  on the latest version of Pro-Stitcher on the HQ Amara with Pro-Stitcher, one person to a machine.
  • The basic longarm classes are taught on the HQ Amara with one person to a machine.
  • Cost is $895 per person and includes 3 breakfasts (if you stay at our host hotel), 3 lunches, 2 dinners, and a shop hop field trip.

Pro-Stitcher Designer Retreats

  • You must bring your computer with the latest version of Pro-Stitcher Designer already loaded. Be sure to bring a mouse and your power supply for the computer.
  • Classes begin at 8:45 am and go until 5:00 pm. each day
  • If you stay at our host hotel (Country Inn & Suites, Bountiful, Utah), then breakfast is included each morning, and ground transportation will be included in the price of the retreat, including airport transfers.
  • If you choose to fly home the evening of Day 2, do not book your flight before 7:30 p.m.
  • Cost is $695 per person and includes two breakfasts (at host hotel), two lunches, and one dinner.

Pro-Stitcher Designer Retreat

Learn the basics of Pro-Stitcher Designer. We’ll start with an overview of the software then learn how to navigate within Designer to get the class rolling. Explore the basics of Designer, beginning with creating designs using the Draw tools, Artwork tools and utilizing the Auto Digitizer. Next, we’ll dive into editing existing designs with more tips and tricks on creating with all the great features available in PS Designer.

Pro-Stitcher Retreat

Join us for a great overview of HQ Pro-Stitcher, including how to start, open and save designs, navigate menus, and quilt out the designs. You’ll delve into Areas and how to fit designs using Skew and Align. You’ll learn how to Repeat, Resize, and Rotate designs, and finally how to Crop and Reposition designs. With this introduction, you’ll be prepared for the additional, more in-depth operations with Pro-Stitcher.

Longarm Basic Retreat

Get to know your longarm Handi Quilter quilting machine. We will cover: cleaning, maintaining, threading, tensioning, loading a quilt, basting, and spend some time having fun with some basic free-motion continuous line designs and using rulers and templates. If you use the HQ Amara, HQ Forte, HQ Avanté, HQ Infinity, HQ Fusion, HQ Simply Sixteen, or HQ Sixteen, this retreat is for you.

Travel

Plan your travel to arrive at the Salt Lake International Airport the evening before the training begins.

Arriving in Salt Lake City

As soon as you have landed at the Salt Lake airport and before you pick up your baggage, please call the hotel at (801) 292-8100 to let them know that you have arrived and will need the shuttle. They will explain where they will pick you up. They will ask what airline you flew in on. This will help them determine what terminal you are in.
 
All shuttle drivers appreciate a gratuity for good service.

Please make your hotel reservations at the Country Inn and Suites. Call 801-292-8100 and mention that you are with Handi Quilter to get our negotiated room rate that includes round trip shuttles to and from the Airport.

Shuttle Information

Ground transportation to and from Handi Quilter will be provided for those who stay at our host hotel. The shuttle will leave from the hotel at 8:50 AM each day. Be in the Country Inn and Suites lobby ready to board by 8:45 AM. If driving, plan to arrive at Handi Quilter by 8:55 AM each morning.

Meals

A complimentary breakfast is available at the host hotel. Lunches will be catered at Handi Quilter every day. Dinner is provided the first day of training at a fine area restaurant. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel for dinner the rest of the week.

Items to Bring

Jacket/sweater (in case it gets cool in the classroom). You will want to dress in layers.
Comfortable shoes (you will be doing a lot of standing and quilting)
Camera (we have beautiful quilts in our facility)
Swimsuit (optional) Hotel has hot tub/pool
Plenty of space in luggage for your projects and products that you may want to purchase while you’re here. (We do have a shipping department in case you want to ship anything home.)
