Taught by our Studio Educators, Kim and Kristina, all classes feature a combination of classroom learning and hands-on training. Our #1 goal is to inspire you to love long-arm quilting and to give you the confidence to finish your fabulous quilts! Please note the skill levels of each class and the minimum required skill set.

If you’re ready to answer the question “How should I quilt this?” with confidence, we’re here to help! This two and a half day retreat will arm you with the skills you need to finish your quilts with flair.
Topics covered include: choosing patterns, tools for testing ideas before you begin stitching, understanding design choices, thread options, and more. In class, you’ll finish quilting one completed quilt top you bring along (less than 40” wide x 60” long). Baby quilts, wall hangings, and table runners are great options.
Skill Level: Intermediate* (see below for minimum skill set)
Basic understanding of operating your long-arm including loading, threading and setting balanced tension, changing needles/bobbins/threads routinely, changing feet, using rulers.

Get comfortable with all the tools Pro-Stitcher has to offer and then get ready to level up your skills. This class is for long-arm quilters wanting to maximize their use of all the bells and whistles Pro-Stitcher has to offer! A two and a half day retreat, you’ll enhance your existing knowledge with expert advice on getting the most from your Pro-Stitcher.
Topics covered include: a quick refresher on Pro-Stitcher basics, making designs fit in challenging spaces, repositioning, and more. In class, you’ll create and finish one custom-quilted project utilizing all the Pro-Stitcher tools. (All supplies provided.) Taught hands-on on the latest version of Pro-Stitcher Premium on the HQ Amara – but all information works on Pro-Stitcher Lite too. One person per machine.

Want a class that’s tailored to YOU? We’ll customize this two and a half day adventure to include just what you’re after. Each student brings a completed quilt top (maximum size 40” wide x 60” long). You’ll have access to the HQ longarm machines and gadgets, and expertise of our studio education team to help you quilt your project to completion.
Need help brainstorming ideas? Seeking answers to your most-pressing quilting questions? Have a quilting stumbling block or fear you’d like help vanquishing? We’re here for it— spending time with each student, tailoring a one-of-a-kind session that suits your needs. We’ll have you fill out a questionaire and include a picture of the project you want to work on so we can be prepared to help you quilt with confidence and leave with a finished project.

Ready to kick your custom-quilting skills up a notch? That’s exactly what you’ll be doing when you learn to combine all the tools of Pro-Stitcher with the power of PS Designer—achieving fantastic results on your longarm. This two and a half day, hands-on retreat takes a deep dive into both Pro-Stitcher and PS Designer with our well-versed Studio Education team, so you can feel comfortable operating both systems in your quilting studio with ease.
Topics covered include: A quick refresher on Pro-Stitcher and PS Designer basics, utilizing the most powerful tools in both programs and more. In class, you’ll have hands-on time to practice all the skills you’re learning. (All supplies provided.)

Calling all our Feather Friends! Feathers are a timeless classic when it comes to quilting designs. Let’s flock together for a two and a half day immersion class in free-motion quilting feathers of all types and sizes. There will be hands-on, longarm learning with our Studio Educators sharing how to stitch the feathers, as well as where to use them in your quilts. Once completed, dare we say, you’ll have a new feather (or two, or three, or more) in your cap! (All supplies provided.)

For those who are staying at the host hotel and request the shuttle, Handi Quilter will provide transportation to/from the hotel and Handi Quilter. The shuttle will leave the hotel at 8:45 am each day. Be in the hotel lobby ready to leave by 8:40 am. If driving, plan to arrive at Handi Quilter at 8:55 am each morning.
Lunches will be catered at Handi Quilter daily.
Dinner is provided the first two nights for 3 day retreats and the first night for two day retreats.
There are also many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
If you need to change your registration more than 4 weeks before the event, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another retreat within the next 12 calendar months.
If you wish to transfer your registration less than 4 weeks before the event, you may transfer your registration to another retreat within the next 12 calendar months upon payment of the $250 transfer fee. This transfer fee is waivable upon extenuating circumstances (such as a military deployment.) No-shows will not be given a transfer option.
