Halloween Quilts
#1. Halloween Quilt: Snowballs at Halloween?!? by Debby Whiting
Debbie created this adorable quilt using a Spooky Schoolhouse fabric by Riley Blake Designs charm pack that she won at her guild meeting. Lucky quilter! She made them into snowball blocks, then stitched them together, and quilted with her wonderful Amara 20 with Pro-Stitcher. I LOVE the Spider Web border quilting that she used!
#2. Halloween Quilt: Mod Halloween by Jean Browning and Karen Griffin
Nothing says Halloween like black cats and pumpkins! Karen made the pattern by Amanda Niederhouse Designs using scrappy fabric. Jean quilted this cutie using Ava her HQ Avante. She utilized the Handi Sure Foot, Micro Foot, and her Baby Grand ruler.
Jean said, “Sharing the work brought back memories of past Happy Halloweens.”
So glad to see a label on the back!
#3. Halloween Quilt: Spooky Starry by Lauren Curtis
Lauren made the pattern Starry, from Quiltin Tia, using Lewis & Irene Cast A Spell fabric and quilted it on her HQ Amara 20 using the pantograph, All Hallows Eve from My Creative Stitches.
She said, “I love how colorful my Halloween quilt is and how fun the spiders and spider webs in the panto make the back of the quilt!” I totally agree, Lauren!
#4. Halloween Quilt: Creepalicious by Debbie Shannon
Debbie used Cheeky Pumpkins fabric and the Little Spooks pattern for this beautiful quilt in classic Halloween colors. She said it was her longest WIP (Work in Progress) and was so glad to be finished!
I want to curl up under this quilt on this porch swing and wait for trick-or-treaters! Check out the cute quilting on her pillow.
#5. Halloween Quilt: Wacky Jack by Deb Compton
The quilt pattern is from American Patchwork and Quilting, October 2013, issue 124. Deb used fabric from her stash, but did purchase some from the Springs Creative line. We always need that little something extra, right? She quilted it on her HQ Avante with Pro-Stitcher Premium. Deb chose the “Witch in Flight, What a Sight” Edge-to-edge design by Quilty Treasure. Deb said, “I knew it would be the perfect fit! It was a bonus that I was able to get a discount, on the design, because I have my Pro-Stitcher membership!”
From Deb, “I love the quilt for many reasons! First, I love the bright colors…nothing says “Halloween” like orange, purple and lime green on a black background! Additionally, it was a fun pattern to sew. With it being a “wacky” quilt, I could use nearly any size strips, making it a great scrap buster! As a new quilter, this was my first quilt that called for a muslin foundation for each block. At first, I didn’t understand why I needed a foundation. But in the end, I did appreciate how each block maintained its shape.”
#6. Halloween Quilt: Spooky Halloween by Bernadine Libreiro
This is a great example of creativity! Bernadine used the pattern, Fernanda for the borders around this Halloween panel. I love to see how quilters create using panels! So much fun.
Jesse, Bernadine’s daughter, loves Halloween and requested this panel. She helped select the fabrics from stash for the border and the Minky on the back. [Minky fabric is a type of microfiber fabric that is known for its soft and plush texture. It is made from 100% polyester fibers, which gives it a durable and long-lasting quality. Minky fabric is perfect for blankets, robes, and other cozy items because it is hypoallergenic, breathable, and easy to care for.] So the quilt means even more to her. Bernadine quilted it on her Amara!
#7. Halloween Quilt by Iris Noitalay
Iris is my fellow HQ National educator who lives in Florida. She chose a cute panel and added simple borders then custom quilted.
Fall Quilts
Fall + Halloween = Falloween The best fun and beautiful colors add up to make gorgeous quilts!
#8. Falloween Quilt: Chenille by Harriet Carpanini
We saw some great ideas for Halloween panels and this is an outstanding Fall quilt using panels by Harriett.
She used 4 of the same panel and a backing fabric to create this fun chenille on her Handi Quilter longarm machine.
#9. Falloween Quilt: Vintage Flair with an Autumn Hue by Michelle Elrod
Michelle said this is her favorite Fall quilt featuring vintage linens and fall fabrics.
She FMQ (Free Motion Quilted) swirly flowers.
The backing is a vintage sheet.
I love the vintage doilies she incorporated into this lovely quilt!
#10. Falloween Quilt: Perfect Pumpkin Patches by Teresa Priddy Bratcher
She had been wanting a Fall quilt and just finished this one in September. Teresa used Pumpkin Patches pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew.
And the digital E2E pattern she used on her Handiquilter Avante longarm with Pro-Stitcher was Intelligent Quilting—Perfect Pumpkins. Perfect!
#11. Falloween Quilt: Virginia Creeper on the Barn Door by Susan Harrison Buckingham
This fall quilt Susan shared with us was quilted on her HQ Avante.
Love this elegant quilt!
#12. Falloween Quilt: Harvest Harmony, Handi Quilter’s Fall Lobby Quilt
I had the honor and pleasure of quilting one of the four seasonal quilts that Handi Quilter displays in the lobby of headquarters. Lucky to get the Fall panel, it’s my favorite season of the year!
I used my HQ Infinity and all the tools at my disposal for this panel.
Some ruler work,
some free motion,
and lots of Pro-Stitcher quilting.
Most of the Pro-Stitcher designs are original, digitized by me, using Pro-Stitcher Designer. You can see my drawing ideas on Quilter’s Preview Paper
and then after digitizing,
then stitched out with Pro-Stitcher.
The Pro-Stitcher quilting took some fancy, detailed cropping work!
I included fun little surprises in the quilting for the viewer to find.
I used a bit of a panel I had to add a turkey to the label on the back.
If you are ever in North Salk Lake, UT, stop by Handi Quilter for a visit. You’ll see one of the four Lobby Quilts on display right inside the front door!
