Hello wonderful quilter!

We are excited to share the dates for an upcoming two days of Facebook Lives, focused on projects and skill builders that center around making memories. Now, we know that memories are infused in every quilt that is given and received, and for this series of lives, we will be focusing on t-shirt memory quilts and back to school memories — perfect for August!

We’re excited to kick off this special time of year with demos and project ideas.

Meet Your Host, Tina Harris

Tina Harris, a Texas native, has been passionate about sewing and quilting since she was 7 years old. Over the past 30+ years, she has crafted beautiful quilts and keepsakes, honing her skills in longarming, embroidery, and machine applique. Many pieces of her work have hung in museums and exhibits throughout the country.

Tina is a t-shirt expert, having built a longarm quilting business around t-shirts and memory quilting. After 5 years of renting longarm machines for her Custom T-Shirt and Memory Quilt business, Tina stepped out on faith by investing in two longarm machines, the HQ Infinity® with Pro-Stitcher® Premium and the HQ Forté with Pro-Stitcher® Premium. These machines have allowed her to customize her quilts beyond edge-to-edge quilting!

How to Join

We’ll start each day at 10AM MT, take a break for lunch, and then be back with more fun projects and tips at 1PM MT!

Streaming will begin each day at 10AM MT, and you can join by heading to the Handi Quilter YouTube or Facebook page.

Tuesday, August 26 | T-Shirt Quilts

For the first day of these live events with Tina Harris, we are dividing the day in two sections:

Morning – Tina & Belsy | Starting at 10AM MT

For our morning segment, Belsy Schleter, RSM of the Southeastern United States, and Tina Harris, Handi Quilter National Educator, will give you a Grand Tour of Longarm Machines, sharing their experience on the machines — along with fun features or tips you may not know!

Belsy has years of experience in both sewing machines and longarm quilting machines, and she’s excited to join forces with Tina for this fun morning — talking all things machines!

Afternoon – T-Shirt Quilt Tips & T-Shirt Pillow Project

During the afternoon, we will have longarm quilting demos taught by Tina Harris. Tina will begin by sharing tips on preparing a shirt for a t-shirt quilt, and then share a fun and easy project so you can “get your feet wet” to try out t-shirt quilting! Throughout the live, Kim Sandberg, HQ Studio Educator, will pop in to ask questions!

Wednesday, August 27 | Back to School Projects

For the second day of these live events with Tina Harris, we are dividing the day in two sections.

Morning – School Bus Placemat | Starting at 10AM MT

Afternoon Projects | Starting at 1PM MT

In the afternoon, Tina is going to show us a fun project — quilted textbook or tablet covers! These are a darling gift for teachers, as well as for students entering junior high or high school who take home their textbooks!
