Today on the Handi Quilter blog, we’re excited to share a list of July 4th quilt ideas from our community members! We asked community members to share their July 4th and Americana themed quilts with us in our Facebook Community and email newsletter.
Not all quilters had all of the info on their respective quilts, but we are delighted to receive these submissions!
July 4th Quilt Ideas | Longarm Quilting
July 4th quilts can range from portraying the United States flag to other Americana thematic elements.
#1: “For Bobbe” – USA Flag Quilt Idea
From Randy Malmstrom: “This is my flag quilt. I named it ‘For Bobbe’ in dedication to my mom who taught me to love and cherish the flag and who was the truest of patriots. I made this in July 2018, a week or so after she passed away. The actual name of the quilt is ‘True Patriot’ designed by Jennifer Fulton – released by Timeless Treasures. I used several ProStitcher patterns for the quilting.”
#2: American Spiral Lonestar Quilt
This quilt was made by Handi Quilter National Educator, Mary Beth Krapil.
Shares Mary Beth, “I made this quilt top way back in 2006. It is a pattern by Jan Krentz found in her book Lone Star Quilts and beyond. I really enjoyed choosing the fabrics since color and value play such a huge role in the look of the spiral.
It took me a while to get up the nerve to quilt it as I was not a total newbee, but it was early in my longarm journey. I think, if I remember correctly, I quilted it in 2007. I have this quilt hanging in the stairway up to my studio. I love seeing it every day as I go up to play/work.”
#3: World War 2 Veteran Quilt
This quilt was quitled by Jennifer Hope and is named, “Poppies, a WWI tribute quilt to my grandfather.”
