Pam created this stunning applique quilt using the Vintage Valentine pattern by Verna Mosquera from The Vintage Spool. She quilted it on her Amara20 with Pro-Stitcher using the Ginger Heart pattern from Apricot Moon Designs.
Ann Hull

Ann made this playful Valentine quilt for a dear friend back in 2006. It was a Christmas gift. I’m so happy to see labels on quilts!
3. Valentine Quilts with Couching
Couching using the Handi Couching Feet Kit is a fun and addictive way to embellish and quilt your quilts all at one time. You can stitch down yarns and ribbons as you quilt. Use free-motion, ruler work, or Pro-Stitcher with the couching feet. Here are a some examples from Handi Quilter friends.
Emily Cheney

Emily used her Pro-Stitcher on her Amara 20 and stitched the yarn using the Red Hot Hearts design in the built-in Pro-Stitcher library. This was Emily’s first time trying couching! It really is easy and fun to do.
Paige Murphy

Paige achieved a gorgeous effect by simply couching white yarn in a double hearts pattern on solid red. Gotta love that striped binding to frame it!

3. Quilt a Valentine panel
I have one wall in my home that always displays a seasonal quilt. I love this time of year because I love this quilted panel. It was a blast to quilt using Pro-Stitcher with a little ruler work and free-motion thrown in for good measure. The digital design I used was from Pro-Stitcher Patterns called Faux Free Motion Edge to Edge 2.

4. Make a Doll Quilt
Do you have a sweet little who loves dolls? They would LOVE a little quilt for their dolly. And you can include a quilted message just for them.
Valentine quilts don’t always need to be red or pink. As long as it has a heart on it, you’re good. My granddaughter’s baby doll was a boy named Jimothy. So his quilt needed to be blue!
This little doll quilt has a raw edge applique heart and a quilted message. It measure only 19 x 24 and was made with a scrap of flannel for the top and back and a small scrap of the appliqued heart. I quilted the sandwich with an all-over hearts design using Pro-Stitcher. Then I placed the scrap of fabric on top and stitched a single heart. I cut around the heart shape leaving about 1/4 inch fabric outside of the stitching. Using a small scissors I fringed the edge so that when the quilt is washed it will fray and bloom up like chenille.

Bad lighting resulted in inaccurate color in the photo (sorry). The quilt is baby blue (not gray).
I stitched “Gramma loves you” in a cursive at the bottom. Jimothy loves his quilt!
