We have a new machine in the Moxie family! Moxie XL is the big-sister to our original Moxie.

The Moxie XL from Handi Quilter has the same easy-to- learn and oh-so-fun to use experience as the original Moxie, but with new features to help you finish your own quilts faster and with an incredibly smooth stitching experience. Get to quilting quickly with straightforward features, easy-to-use controls, and 18 inches of throat space to get creative. Practical features like bright lighting and touchscreen controls make this simple, spunky longarm the perfect quilting machine to customize and make your own.

Which machine is right for you?

That’s a great question and there’s a quiz on our website that might help you answer it. Find the quiz here. But maybe you’re wondering if Moxie or Moxie XL is the right choice. Here are some things to think about:

Throat space

The throat space is the measurement from the needle to the inside of the back of the machine.

This is not the quilting space you will have. When the machine is mounted on the frame, the poles inside the throat take up some of the space you have for quilting. A rule-of-thumb is to subtract 4-5 inches from the throat space to know the quilting space. Moxie has a 15 inch throat space. When you subtract 5 inches you have 10 inches of quilting space.  That’s not big enough to quilt a 12 inch block all in one go. With Moxie XL’s 18 inch throat space you’ll have a generous plenty amount of room to quilt 12 inch blocks. It’s big enough for lots of freedom when it comes to choice of designs.

Speed

Moxie’s max speed is 1800 stitches per minute. The Moxie XL clocks in at 2100 SPM. Most home sewing machines will sew around 650-1000 stitches per minute. Why care about this?  When you first get started with longarm quilting you won’t notice machine speed at all. But as you get more experienced with free-motion you’ll start to quilt faster. You’ll want a machine that will keep up with you as you grow.

Ease of adjusting settings

The Moxie XL has an easy-to-use touch screen that allows you to adjust the machine settings for the quilting you will be doing. It’s awesome and intuitive.

The Moxie has a small display showing the machine settings that you control with buttons on the handle bars. It gives you all the same information about your settings, you just need to learn the handle bar commands to make changes.

Robotic capability

Both Moxie and Moxie XL are compatible with Pro-Stitcher Lite™.  Computerized quilting at your fingertips helps you finish beautiful quilts with confident detail and impressive speed. Learn more about Pro-Stitcher Lite at the Po-Stitcher website.

Frame options

Both Moxie and Moxie XL are compatible with the Loft (8 ft or 10 ft) frame or the Little Foot frame (5 foot). You can choose what works for your space. It’s great to have options!

Fun Factor

You are guaranteed to have a blast finishing your quilts at lightening speed with either of the Moxie sisters. Both are great machines with options that fit your budget, your style, your space, and your life. And they are both backed by the well-known, world-class customer support and education of Handi Quilter.

One response to “Moxie XL – more to love”

  1. I have the original Moxie and love it! The ad for the new Moxie says that it has a “smoother” glide. One thing I wish was different on the Moxie I have is that I wish it wasn’t so squirrely. Is the actual quilting action different on this one, or the same?
