Helen and her beloved
HQ Sweet Sixteen.
Helen Godden, HQ International Ambassador, is celebrating the ten year anniversary of her association with Handi Quilter. Helen lives in Australia with her husband and daughter. She has won numerous awards at shows all over the world. She enjoys teaching and sharing her ideas about quilting with others. We sat down with Helen (virtually) and asked her a few questions. Hope you enjoy getting to know this talented lady a little better.
HQ:What does being an HQ ambassador mean to you?
HG: Being able to share my love of Handi Quilter machines with others and knowing that when I talk about HQ quality and service and education, that I am speaking confidently. I know if quilters purchase an HQ machine, they are going to enjoy their quilting time and increase in confidence and quilting skills rapidly. And that makes them feel good. They will never regret taking my advice on making that purchase.
The HQ Sweet Sixteen is perfect. I use my machine almost daily, so it is easy to tell people from the heart, my love of my Sweet. Working with HQ is the first time I have felt truly respected as an artist and valued as an asset. HQ took me and my work centre stage in the quilting world, in only my 3rd year as a quilter. They saw potential in me and my work, long before I had realized the bigger picture.
Handi Quilter works with its Ambassadors and listens to our suggestions or wants. That’s how the couching foot came into being.  My dad and I designed it for my Sweet Sixteen.  When I showed HQ, they LOVED it and decided to make them for everyone to add another feature of the HQ range. Very proud of my Couching foot!
HQ: Of all your quilts, what is your favorite?
HG: Mother Earth – Â Bleach painted. My own technique, was an amazing quilt where EVERYTHING just came together like a dream. Won in Australia and Houston and Birmingham and was sold for $10 000. Still miss her.

Screeching Cockatoo – hangs my dining room and I love her too. She sold and then came back to me – yes I purchased her back!

Oh! I just cant pick one! My  current fave is my daughter, which will be one of my entries to Houston this year. It is a photo I altered in an app and then painted the altered image; a video of the process is here.Â
