Last week we explored 5 things to do with your quilty friends. Here is a continuation of that list, 5 more things to do.

6. Go on a Shop Hop

This is something you can tailor to your group. Just plan a day to visit all your local-ish shops together. Or get in on an organized shop hop that offers special deals, prizes and lots of fun. Ask at your guild or favorite shop about what’s available in your area. There are some state-wide shop hops too! Check out Shop Hop Inc on Facebook to see if there’s one in your state.

7. Do a Round Robin

Round Robin quilts are medallion-style quilts pieced from the center out. Typically, the “owner” makes the center block. Then it is passed around to each person, one-by-one, who adds a border of their choosing and then passes it along to the next person.

You can get an idea about Round Robin quilts by reading this blog post featuring round robin quilts made by a group of HQ Quilt Your Desire Inspiration Squad members.

8. Do a post card exchange

It’s always fun to get something special in the mail. Quilted post cards are a thing! They are fun and quick and easy to make. You can let your creativity soar! Here‘s a video tutorial from Vanessa, The Crafty Gemini. Did you know she quilts on a HQ Moxie with Pro-Stitcher Lite?

9. Tour a trail of Barn blocks

I love barn quilts, a form of American folk art. They are painted wood squares that are quilt block designs hung on the sides of barns and other buildings. My darling husband made one for me as a Valentine gift a few years ago.

You can find maps for trails to scout out barn quilts at this website. Check it out for your state.

10. Make quilts for someone you don’t know

It’s a wonderful feeling to make a quilt for someone you don’t know. Knowing that you brought a little cheer and caring into their life. There are many organizations that you can hook up with. Two of my favorites are Quilts For Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming fabrics into patchwork quilts to comfort children facing serious illness, trauma, abuse, and natural disasters.

and Quilts of Valor, who awards quilts to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”

Now you can add to your quilty friends bucket list!
