Patty Kerns

Patty has loved sewing since taking home economics in middle school over 40 years ago. Her quilting journey began in 2003 when her eldest child went off to college. From there, Patty’s passion for quilting quickly grew. Joining a local guild, she became involved in sharing her new knowledge with others. She has taught classes for the local quilt guild at the annual quilt show, conducted workshops for her local chapter, and also worked in a quilt shop to feed her passion for quilting. Patty has had a 36-year career as a Registered Nurse and continues to work part-time in the operating room. She has also served as adjunct faculty at the George Washington University School of Nursing, overseeing students in the clinical setting.

In 2014 Patty took her quilting to the next level when she purchased her Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher. Patty quickly became proficient with Pro-Stitcher, and now enjoys combining Pro-Stitcher with rulers and free motion quilting. She quilts professionally in her community and also enjoys teaching new long arm owners.

Patty resides in Haymarket, VA with her husband Joe 35 miles west of Washington DC. She is the mother of 2 and Nona (grandmother) to 3 adorable grandchildren. Like most quilters, she loves sharing the art of quilting, continuously growing her skills, and making meaningful connections with quilters.
