Patty Kerns

Patty has loved sewing ever since she studied home economics in middle school. Her quilting journey began in 2003 when her eldest child went off to college. From there, Patty’s passion for quilting grew quickly. After joining a local guild, she began to share her new knowledge with others. She has taught classes for the local quilt guild at their annual quilt show, conducted workshops for her local chapter and also worked in a quilt shop to feed her passion for quilting.

In 2014 Patty took her quilting to the next level when she purchased her first longarm, a HQ Fusion® with Pro-Stitcher®. Patty quickly became proficient in using Pro-Stitcher, and now enjoys combining Pro-Stitcher with rulers and free motion quilting on her HQ Forte® with Pro-Stitcher. She has been quilting professionally in her community and also enjoys teaching new long arm owners. Like most quilters, she loves sharing the art of quilting, continuously growing her skills and making meaningful connections with quilters.

Patty has had a nearly 40-year career as a registered nurse and continues to work part-time in the operating room. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University School of Nursing, overseeing students in the clinical setting.

Patty resides in Gainesville, VA with her husband Joe, 35 miles outside of Washington DC. She is the mother of two children, and Nona (grandmother) to three adorable grandchildren.
