Fiona began quilting when her sister Kathy taught her to hand piece and hand quilt in 1989, long before using rotary cutters and longarm quilting machines. After completing her first baby quilt for a friend, she was hooked and her life-long adventure with quilting began.
Over the years Fiona made many different types of quilts with love and a passion for design and piecing. Her quilting has won several awards in regional quilt shows. One of the highlights of her quilting life was going on a Bonnie Hunter Alaskan quilting cruise.
After attending many quilt shows and seeing how longarm machines can enhance the beauty of quilts, she decided to take the plunge and invest in her own machine in 2015. Fiona started her own business, TurtleTracks Quilting, where she finished quilts for clients on her Handi Quilter longarm. Over the years she has developed a love of custom quilting using free motion and rulers. One of her favorite things to do is to incorporate Pro-Stitcher®, rulers, and free motion all in the same quilt. She thinks this is the best of all worlds! Fiona has also taught quilting classes at quilt shops and for private groups and is an avid collector and restorer of Singer Featherweight machines.
After spending many years in the southern U.S., Fiona moved back to her home state of Connecticut, where her son and extended family live. Fiona is a big Star Trek fan, enjoys reading, traveling, doing hand redwork embroidery, and playing with her dog, Bobbin.
