Audrey Vrooman

Audrey is a lifelong sewer who made her own wardrobe from high school through university and in the early years of her career. She was inspired to take up quilting after retiring early from a successful career as a Canadian bank executive.

After sending her early quilt tops to a longarmer, it wasn’t long before she yearned to complete her projects from start to finish. While using a domestic machine on a frame, Audrey researched long arm machines extensively before purchasing her HQ Avanté® with Pro-Stitcher® almost 6 years ago. Now Audrey has full creative freedom to combine digitized designs, ruler work and free motion micro-quilting to complete her piecing and appliqué projects. She uses Art and Stitch extensively both to create original designs and to alter purchased ones.

In an effort to stay at the leading edge of trends in the quilting industry, Audrey travels extensively to quilt shows both in Canada and the USA. Her quilts have received awards at the local, national and international level.

Audrey is an accomplished, sharing instructor who believes that every teaching opportunity is also a learning opportunity. She encourages students to find the joy in their accomplishments by acquiring and using the skills, tools and equipment available to them.

Audrey and her husband Ron live in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and share their home with 2 furry companions, Joey (a Yorkie) and Kiki (a Chihuahua).
