ELECTRICAL ENGINEER / EMBEDDED DEVELOPMENT

A BSEE or BSCS degree is required with a minimum of 2 – 3 current years of experience in an embedded hardware/software design capacity.

Job Duties include:

  • Development of software requirements
  • Development of hardware requirements and schematics
  • Circuit board layout experience a plus, OrCAD/Cadence
  • Hardware debug
  • Embedded software development and debug on target hardware
  • Transition to production – BOM creation, sourcing, and documentation
  • Production support
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will possess the majority of the abilities listed below:

  • Strong experience with all phases of hardware and software development cycle on embedded systems including design, implementation, and debugging
  • Good problem solving and programming skills and software practice
  • A thorough understanding of C for embedded processors (e.g. ARM, PIC and MSP430)
  • Ability to quickly understand an existing hardware or firmware design and modify it if needed.
  • Experience in System Level Testing of HW/SW – preferred
  • Willing to learn and unafraid to ask questions.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

The Graphic Designer will have the opportunity to work with a variety of projects from print to digital media. This position is part of the Marketing & Education Team, reporting to the Marketing Manager, and will work alongside other talented designers, videographers, and web professionals. The Graphic Designer role is a full-time, in-house position at the Handi Quilter office in North Salt Lake, UT. No remote or freelance workers. Applications without an online portfolio will not be considered.

Required Skills:

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite Programs, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Flexibility and willingness to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • BA or BFA, preferably in visual design and/or a strong online design portfolio featuring talents and relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start and manage personal workflow to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively, ask questions, and respond to constructive feedback.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a graphic design role

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Present the Handi Quilter brand effectively through the use and development of typography, photography, design, and other digital media following brand guidelines
  • Collaborate with various teams to develop solutions for both print and web
  • Contribute to creative brainstorming and ideation sessions for all marketing needs
  • Create beautiful and effective visual solutions that meet both business and user needs
  • Manage assigned workflow within project management platform (Basecamp)
  • Manage and organize file assets and imagery
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and manage time efficiently is essential

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer new product and improvements to existing products
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate assigned projects as an individual project engineer or as a member of a cross-functional team of other mechanical, electrical and software engineers, marketing people, and customers
  • Gather product and project requirements from written and oral communications form all team members from the Customer to the CEO and interpret those effectively into products and or solutions and then support product release plans
  • Develop prototypes and perform validation and life testing and backup analysis with data
  • Design simple to complex electro-mechanical assemblies with a keen attention to details
  • Create and develop engineering project documentation, i.e. solid models, shop drawings, bills of materials, exploded view assembly drawings, and specifications, support the development of technical manuals and perform peer review of drawings
  • Carry out complex analysis in the areas of FEA, strength of materials, thermal modeling, dynamic vibration, and others as needed
  • Develop jigs and fixtures for production to facilitate the manufacturing process
  • Work in a professional manner with domestic and overseas vendors to ensure design intent is realized
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve production issues and implement ECOs when needed

Qualifications:

  •  BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Six-plus years of practical experience designing consumer products or machines
  • Have a penchant for good industrial design that compliments engineering skills
  • Applicable computer skills, to include Microsoft Office software
  • 5 years of experience using CAD, preferably SolidWorks and PDM Works
  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation
  • Ability to run basic engineering calculations, particularly in FEA, strength of materials, thermal
  • modeling, and vibrational forces analysis
  • Experience using universal drafting and design standards and GD&T
  • Must be knowledgeable and able, to design for a variety of manufacturing processes including
  • injection molded plastic, sheet metal, aluminum casings, CNC machining, etc.
  • Must be highly motivated, adaptable, flexible, organized, and possess strong listening skills, problem
  • solving skills, and a sense of urgency and can work extra hours if needed
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with strong people skills
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation
  • Hands-on machine shop experience and machine assembly is a plus
  • Project management or business administration experience
  • Occasional travel required, including overseas
  • Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs.
