Let’s face it—sometimes we find just the right digitial design and it is either way too big or way too small. Gail will review various methods on adjusting the size of your design to fit your space. There is more than one way available to you and you will find your favourite. This is a basic Pro-Stitcher class on reducing, enlarging and fitting a pattern to your space.

Every Little Bit Counts

This class is designed for the confident quilter. It is packed full of unique one of kind designs that we will micro stipple into 6 inch squares!! The designs used in this class may also be enlarged to create wonderful all over designs and can be incorporated to fit into small sashings and corner stones. There are more than a dozen unique designs in all and every hand out has step-by-step how-to instructions to follow when you return home from your workshop or quilt show. This class takes the art of stippling to a whole new level of design and fun. Come join us and discover for yourself why every little bit really does count.

Never Fear, Easy Feathers are Here!

Are you new to long arming but want to master beautiful feathers? We will start with the basics of a teardrop and paisley and learn how to use them to create beautiful feathers. Turning corners on borders can be a challenge but with a few guidelines using a disappearing marker you can be confident that your corners will look great! We will also learn less formal kinds of feathers such as leafy feathers and ferns. These are always a good place to start if you are dreading the backtracking of a more formal feather or tend to make modern quilts.

Couched-Applique-As-You-Quilt

I love a quick and easy project. This technique is just that! We will be doing the applique and quilting together with free motion couching, all in one step! Then add some more detailing with free motion quilting. Fun, freeing, no pre-planning, no rules…!

We will do:

  • Layer up 5 x 10” x 10” squares with 505 Temp Adhesive Spray
  • Mark a basic mandala design
  • Use black wool and couching foot to stitch out main design
  • Cut away fabric in shapes (raw-edge reverse applique)
  • Add more couching with thinner yarns
  • Add more fmq with 4wt thread

Design a Quilt Banner for your Studio

We love to QUILT!
Using Art & Stitch in this class, we will explore True Type Fonts, stitch motifs and creative fills to create a lovely banner for your studio.
Students will learn to use manual features in Art & Stitch, including but not limited to:
– Grid/Snap toGrid/Snap to Node
– Copy/Paste
– Drawing shapes and changing the size
– Tru Type Fonts
– Creative Fills
– Creating a DoublePearl Stitch motif
– Assigning different types of stitches

You will need a laptop computer with latest version of Art and Stitch (Version 4.2) loaded. Trial version is available at www.artandstitch.tv/update.html. Important note: Trial version is just fine for class. You do NOT need an activated version to participate. You can use all the tools within Art and Stitch but you will not be able to save what you create with the trial version. Load the program at least a few days BEFORE class. You will not be able to download the latest version during class.

Don’t forget your:

  • Power cord for laptop
  • Wired mouse (drawing with the small cursor pad on a laptop is difficult and the teacher can help you more easily if you have a mouse)
  • Paper and pencil for note taking
  • USB stick

Look out! Curvy Curves Ahead

Using tools such as cropping of new/start end, reposition, etc., we will break apart designs in our PS catalog to create new Continuous Curve and ClamShell designs that are scalable and repeatable! If I can create it large, I can create it small! Every design we make can be scaled to serve as background fill work as well.

You will need a laptop computer with the latest version of Pro-Stitcher Premium Simulator installed to participate. Load the program at least a few days BEFORE class. You will not be able to download the latest version during class.
